Classic handmade rug type Ardabil, woven from wool. It is a high quality carpet with a density 250000 knots / m2.
Ardabil is the capital of the province of the same name in northern Iran by the Caspian Sea. Those who are familiar with carpets will probably immediately remember the famous Ardabilic carpet in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This carpet was woven in Kashan, but was located in the mosque in Ardabil, from where it was sold for the amount needed to reconstruct the mosque.
Ardabil carpets are similar in patterns to Caucasian carpets such as Shirwan, Karabach and Gendjen. The latter are coveted collectibles. Ardabil carpets are thin and have beautiful geometric motifs.
